Types of grants awarded: Full awards or matching grants for mental health services or medical treatment and care limited to surgical or hormonal services. Please be advised that GIFT follows the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards of care and note that all grants will be awarded directly payable to the provider or medical institution on behalf of grantee.

Award amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.
They range from $300 to $7,500.




Who is Eligible for a GIFT grant?

To qualify for a GIFT grant, you must:
  • Be female born looking to transition via mental health services, surgical or cross hormonal therapy
  • Supply written documentation from a licensed psychotherapist and physician determining applicant meets mental and physical health requirements
  • live in the United States
Beyond the basic eligibility criteria, GIFT seeks applicants whose work:
  • Builds their community's capacity for self-determination and develops grassroots leadership.
  • Acknowledges the value of the FTM community.
  • Creates accountable participatory structures in which community members have decision-making power.
  • Contributes to promoting the mission of GIFT by developing alliances with other constituencies and collaborating with other organizations.

  • All providers must be licensed and certified in the U.S.
  • All grants must be utilized within one year of the award.
